Il faut qu’on parle de Kevin, L. Shriver’s epistolary novel, offers clinical material exploring the homicidal behavior of an adolescent boy who kills eleven people in the America of the 1980’s. It tells of suffering linked to the work of motherhood and education – maternal work – as well as the failure of these, which seems to be the source of the homicidal conduct. The links between violence, thought and Kultur will be investigated.

For a long time, female violence has seemed like an epiphenomenon, a monstrosity, or at least an anomaly. This article will attempt to understand the way that female violence is viewed today along two lines of tension. On the one hand, there is an increasing liberation of women, but in a context of strong condemnation of violence. On the other hand, there continues to be a smaller proportion of girls and woman who commit violent acts compared to males, despite the greater equality between the sexes.

Compared with their male peers, girls commit few delinquent acts. But crimes and misdemeanors are not the only expression of violence and transgression that girls must deal with, either actively or passively. The various forms raise the question of whether certain modes of violent or non-violent transgression are specific to females and how they should be handled by the social welfare and judicial systems. This semiological puzzle is an open field for new research.

Cet article tente de comprendre comment elle est pensée aujourd’hui au regard d’une double tension. L’émancipation croissante des femmes, mais un contexte de forte réprobation à l’égard de tout usage de la violence, d’une part. Une moindre proportion persistante des jeunes filles et des femmes dans les agirs violents, en dépit d’une égalité renforcée entre les deux sexes, d’autre part.

Délits et crimes ne sont toutefois pas les seules formes d’expression de la violence et de la transgression auxquelles sont confrontées, passivement ou activement, les jeunes filles. Ces formes diverses questionnent la spécificité féminine de certains modes transgressifs, violents et non-violents, et leur traitement socio-judiciaire. Ce puzzle sémiologique est un champ ouvert à la recherche.

In educational institutions the adolescent body occupies both formal and informal space and time, within the social space devoted to them. It is dictated by schedules, rhythms and learning activities. The relationship with knowledge and thought originates in the body, and yet the institution denies it in its drive reality. This article will explore this hypothesis through observations carried out in a French high school.

Through a large number of psychiatric emergencies (540 under age 18 in 2001), we explore the relation between the passage to the act and the emergency situation in adolescence: doesn’t modern psychiatry tend to define a psychiatry of the act ? The latter depends on internal causes at adolescence, but also on the environment. The work with these situations is then defined both by the constitution of an emergency service as an interior setting and by the development of an exterior network. The evolution of a ward for dealing with psychiatric emergencies in adolescence can thus be described.
