Es muy clásico decir que el trabajo psíquico que debe cumplir un adolescente es un trabajo de separación, y en particular separación con los objetos de la infancia. Parece mas justo hablar de un ajustamiento de los vínculos entre los padres y los adolescentes. Ellos no deben ser ni muy sueltos para evitar el sentimiento de abandono, ni muy cerrados para no impedir al individuo de construir un espacio psíquico propio. Un tiempo institucional en el cual el adolescente y el padre pueda encontrar su lugar ; puede ayudar a encontrar esta buena distancia. La organización de un grupo de padres al mismo tiempo que un tiempo institucional, es instituido para el adolescente y permite de trabajar sobre este ajustamiento de los lazos.
It is standard to say that the psychical work an adolescent must accomplish is a work of separation, in particular with the objects of childhood. In fact it seems more accurate to speak of an adjustment of bonds between parents and adolescent. The former must be neither too lax (otherwise the adolescent may feel abandoned) nor too clinging (otherwise the individual may be kept from constructing a psychical space of his own). An institutional phase in which each, adolescent and parent, will be able to find his place can help in finding the right distance. Participation in a parents’ group at the time of an adolescent’s institutionalization allows for work on the adjustment of bonds.
